Sentence

How do I open my writing project in Sentence?

Choose File ▸ Open Folder… and pick any folder that contains Markdown (.md) or text (.txt) files, then open a file from the sidebar. Sentence also opens Markdown and plain text files straight from Finder.

Where are my files stored?

In the folders you choose, as plain .md and .txt files on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded anywhere, and the files work with iCloud Drive, Dropbox or git. See the privacy policy for details.

How do comments work?

Select a phrase and add a comment. Comments are stored inside the file itself using CriticMarkup, so they travel with your text and show up in any editor. Resolve a comment when you are done with it.

How do variables work?

Write a placeholder like {{Harbour}} in your text, then set its value once in the Variables panel. It updates everywhere in your project, and Preview shows your text with every value filled in.

How do I link to another document?

Type [[ and pick a file from your project, or use the slash menu to link to a document, embed one in Preview, or insert a variable.

Which Macs does Sentence run on?

Sentence is designed for macOS 26.

How do I get a refund or manage my purchase?

Purchases are handled by Apple. You can request a refund or report a problem at reportaproblem.apple.com.
